People Received New Houses From NNP1 Project

On 27 February 2018, Nam Ngiep 1 Power Company handed 47 houses and certificates to the people from Hom District, Xaysomboun province who chose to relocate to Phouhomxay village, Bolikhan District, Bolikhamxay province.

The village has been developed by Nam Ngiep 1 Power Company Limited (NNP1PC) to accommodate the people who have been affected by the Nam Ngiep 1 Hydropower Project.

Out of the total 479 affected households in Hom district, 51 of them decided to relocate to Phouhomxay village and the remaining chose self-resettlement in other areas upon receipt full compensation from the Project.

The construction of 59 houses (according to the compensation policy, big families are entitled to two houses) began in late 2016 and 47 houses were completed and handed to their owners on 27 February 2018. The remaining houses will be handed when the construction is completed.

This is the second hand-over of houses. The first hand-over of 24 houses was made to 24 households in Hatxaykham village, Bolikhan District, Bolikhamxay province on 25 November 2017. The families are the first group of people who decided to relocate to the village.

Currently, there are 83 households living in Phouhomxay village.

The village is equipped with clean water, electricity, a health center, a market, a kindergarten, a primary school and a secondary school and teachers’ accommodation, agricultural areas with irrigation systems, and roads that can be used all year round.

The hand-over ceremony was attended by Mr. Sykham Xayavong, Bolikhan Party Committee and the President of Party State Inspection Office, members of Resettlement Management Units of Bolikhamxay and Xaysomboun Provinces, senior management of NNP1PC, Phouhomxay village authorities and villagers.
