On September 19th, 2025, Nam Ngiep 1 Power Company (NNP1PC) welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), including Mr. Bhargav Dasgupta, ADB Vice President (Market Solutions), and Ms. Shanny Campbell, ADB Country Director for the Lao PDR, together with senior representatives from ADB Headquarters in Manila, the Bangkok Office, and the Lao PDR Resident Mission.
The delegation visited the Nam Ngiep 1 Hydropower Project facilities, including the main dam and powerhouse, resettlement health center and school, and also met with the chief of the resettlement village. These exchanges allowed ADB, NNP1PC, and community representatives to share perspectives on both operational achievements and the ongoing challenges of community development.
Constructive discussions emphasized the importance of close cooperation among international partners, project operators, and local communities to ensure the long-term success of the project. Particular attention was given to the environmental protection measures embedded in the project’s contractual obligations, such as watershed and biodiversity offset management programs. These efforts demonstrate NNP1PC’s commitment to fulfilling agreed standards while contributing positively to surrounding communities.
NNP1PC values its long-standing partnership with ADB and looks forward to continuing collaboration in support of Laos’ sustainable energy development.
