A new academic year 2018-2019 celebration was held between August 30-31, 2018 at Phouhomxay Resettlement Village Hall, Bolikhan District, Bolikhamxay Province in order to evaluate achievements of the past academic year and review the 2018-2019 study plan. In addition, there were educational activities such as questions and answers, primary health check-up for all students and school clean-up to welcome the new academic year.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Bounsy Chanthavong, Deputy Chief of Education and Sports of Bolikhan District, Bolikhamxay Province, Mr. Bounmy Vorajuk, Party Committee of Houaykhoun Zone, Mr. Phonesy Xong, the Head of Phouhomxay Village, school directors, teachers, parents and students.
Phouhomxay Village and its infrastructures such as a health center, access and community roads that can be used all year round, a market, village hall, kindergarten, primary school and secondary school and teachers’ accommodation, agriculture land with an irrigation system, clean water, electricity and others were built to accommodate the people who have been affected by the Nam Ngiep 1 Hydropower Project. Currently, approximately 83 households live in the village.
