The Nam Ngiep 1 Watershed and Reservoir Management Plan (WRMP) has been developed to analyse watershed management issues and plan appropriate actions to support the sustainable use of natural resources and maintenance of ecological services within the NNP1 watershed.
The WRMP covers part of the administrative areas of Xaysomboun Province and a small area of Bolikhamxay province totaling 146,017 ha. The WRMP is a long-term management plan covering the period from 2019 through to the end of the project concession period, which ends 27 years after the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of NNP1.
The workshop will be held on March 13th, 2019 at the Ministry of Forestry and its main objective of the workshop is to:
- present the overall progress of Nam Ngiep 1 Project (NNP1) Watershed and Reservoir Management Plan (WRMP) development to Government of Laos;
- key elements of the WRMP including proposed organizational structure for the oversight and implementation, key activities, budget over 27 years concession period;
- obtain an endorsement by the Vice-Minister of MAF for the approval of the NNP1 WRMP; and
- present the Annual Implementation Plan 2019 by each province for better coordination and synergy.
