Nam Ngiep Bridge improves better access for Phiengta Villagers and nearby communities

Jun 28, 2024 | News

Villagers in Phiengta Village and nearby communities in Thathom District, Xaysomboun Province, now enjoy improved access to their agricultural lands and commercial areas, enhancing their livelihood activities.

This is thanks to the newly constructed Nam Ngiep Bridge, built by Lao contractors in collaboration with government stakeholders and overseen and funded by Nam Ngiep 1 Power Company (NNP1PC).

“Nam Ngiep Bridge will symbolize sustainable collaboration among villagers, the Lao government, and NNP1PC”, said Mr Masahiko Umesaki, Managing Director of NNP1PC, during the handover ceremony on June 20, 2024.

The ceremony was attended by Xaysomboun Provincial government officials, local villagers, NNP1PC management and staff, and representatives of NNP1PC shareholders.

The bridge was opened to the public on June 20, 2024, following the official handover.

NNP1PC operates a 290-megawatt hydropower project in the Bolikhamxay and Xaysomboun provinces of Lao PDR, contributing to clean, renewable electricity and poverty reduction in the country.
