JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN HYDROPOWER DEVELOPMENT

The Nam Ngiep 1 Power Co., Ltd (hereinafter called “The Owner”), co-owned by KPIC Netherlands, a subsidiary of Japan’s Kansai Electric Power, EGAT International of Thailand, and the Lao Holding State Enterprise, was established to develop the Nam Ngiep 1 Hydropower Project (“Project”). The Owner is now operating a 290-MW Project in Bolikhan District, Bolikhamxay Province in order to provide clean renewable electricity and contribute to poverty reduction in Laos. As part of our Project, the “Owner” is looking for National and International applicants:

POSITION: Fish Monitoring Expert (Mekong Freshwater Fish Specialist) and Fish Survey Consultant (local) as group of experts or individual

Location:   NNP1 watershed area in Xaysomboun Province and Biodiversity Offset Site in Bolikhamxay Province

Duration: April to August 2022

1)   Fish Monitoring Expert (maximum 20 working days during the contract)

2)   Fish Survey Consultant (maximum 40 working days during the contract)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fish Survey Consultant

-   Prepare the NNP1 Sub-catchment Fish Species Monitoring Plan,

-   Prepare the NC-NX Fish Species Monitoring Plan, and

-   Support Fish Monitoring Field Surveys.
- Conduct Monitoring Field Surveys,

- Support development of the NNP1 Fish Species Monitoring Plan and

- Support development of the NC-NX Fish Species Monitoring Plan.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Fish Survey Consultant

-   Ichthyologist specializing in Eurasian freshwater fishes.

-   Vast knowledge of the Lao fish fauna.

-   Minimum 15 years of experience in fish taxonomy.

-   Minimum 15 years of experience with high-quality fish survey and assessments.

-   Preferably with proven experience working in Lao PDR and/or within the Mekong River basin.

-   Preferably with previous experience in designing fish surveys and monitoring plans for NNL, and/or previous experience assessing fish species against ADB or IFC PS6 criteria.

-   This position is open for national and international applicants. No travel to Lao PDR will be required.
-   Vast knowledge of the Lao fish fauna.

-   Minimum 5 years of experience in fish taxonomy.

-   Minimum 5 years of experience with high-quality fish survey and assessments.

-   Preferably with proven experience working in Lao PDR and/or within the Mekong River basin.
