JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN HYDROPOWER DEVELOPMENT

Nam Ngiep 1 is a hydropower project under construction in the central provinces of the Lao PDR. The Nam Ngiep 1 Power Company (NNP1PC), co-owned by Kansai Electric Power of Japan, EGAT International Company Limited, and the Lao Holding State Enterprise, is building a 290-MW power plant to provide clean renewable electricity and contribute to poverty reduction. To assist in creating a world-class power plant with international-standard environmental and social programs, Nam Ngiep 1 is looking for the following staff (a Lao national preferred):

POSITION: FISHERY MONITORING OFFICER
(Based in Pakxan Office, Pakxan District, Bolikhamxay Province)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Collects data related to Fishery Monitoring including village consultation survey, individual household survey,
verification survey, socio-economic profile of fishing households, fish migration and spawning survey, gillnet
survey and other related as required with ensuring the quality control and timeliness of data collected.
 Data entry of collected data/information from the overall survey.
 Supports the Team leader in preparing detail working plan for fishery monitoring program including conducting
village level consultations related to fisheries monitoring program including the implementation schedule.
 Supports the Team leader in preparing and organizing meetings and workshop as required including conducting
village level consultations related to fishery monitoring program.
 Provides progress update to the Team leader as required (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc
reporting).
 Supports the Team leader in assisting with identifying and securing necessary personnel and materials required
for implementing the fishery monitoring program.
 Coordinates closely with the villagers, Document Control, Environment Management Unit and other Government
of Lao staff and other personnel of EMO and ESD as required.
 Supervises households involved in the fishery monitoring program.
 Prepares the weekly progress updates/monthly summary for the Team leader
 Performs other works related to Fishery as they may arise and are reasonably assigned by the Team leader.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 University Degree in Ichthyology, Fish Biology, Fishery, Fishery Management or other relevant fields such as
environmental monitoring and aquatic ecology.
 Experienced in working for hydropower projects in relation to fishery monitoring would be an advantage.
 Minimum of three years of work experience in relation to fishery monitoring.
 Proficient in English
 Know and speak Hmong would be an advantage.
 MS Office package.
