JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN HYDROPOWER DEVELOPMENT
Nam Ngiep1 is a hydropower project under construction in the central provinces of the Lao PDR. The Nam Ngiep1 Power Company (NNP1), co-owned by Kansai Electric Power of Japan, EGAT International of Thailand, and the Lao Holding State Enterprise, is building a 290-MW power plant to provide clean renewable electricity and contribute to poverty reduction. To assist in creating a world-class power plant with international-standard environmental and social programs, Nam Ngiep 1 is looking for a Livelihood Officer (a Lao national preferred) as follow:
POSITION: LIVELIHOOD OFFICER
(Based in Pakxan Office, Pakxan District, Bolikhamxay Province)
Assists with the establishment of the livelihood activity program for self resettlers, including a step-by-step exit
Assists the Team Leader to establish milestones for each step of the livelihood strategy.
Assists the Team Leader to establish a tentative schedule for each step of the livelihood strategy.
Implements the livelihood activity program for Self Resettlers in accordance with the Livelihood Activity Program
Works with communities to identify priority needs based on a participatory approach and target of beneficiaries
with inclusion of marginalized/disadvantaged groups, youth and elderly.
Coordinates with relevant Government of Laos counterpart on provision of technical input to the livelihood program
Supports development of household gardens including diversification of fast growing typed of fruits and vegetables
Collaborates with other project officers to coordinate activities and ensures that all activities contribute to the
project’s expected results and achievement of targets.
Provides information to the Livelihood Team leader for inclusion into the weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual
reports and other reporting requirements as they arise.
Assists in coordination with the appropriate District Agricultural and Forestry Office (DAFO) and Provincial
Agricultural and Forestry Office (PAFO) counterparts on the implementation of the livelihood program, specifically
on providing technical training.
Performs other tasks related to livelihood activities in the Environmental and Social Division as they may arise and
are reasonably assigned by the Livelihood Team leader or the Deputy Manager - Resettlement and Livelihood Restoration.
University degree in Agriculture or related field.
Minimum 10 years of work experience in development projects, with a focus on sustainable agriculture, rural
development or food security.
Experience in working with government officials and Project Affected People.
Good in building relations with government officials and villagers.
Good working level of English.
Knowledge of Hmong language is an advantage but not a requirement
MS Office package
