Nam Ngiep1 is a hydropower project under construction in the central provinces of the Lao PDR. The Nam Ngiep1 Power
Company (NNP1), co-owned by Kansai Electric Power of Japan, EGAT International of Thailand, and the Lao Holding State
Enterprise is building a 290-MW power plant to provide clean renewable electricity and contribute to poverty reduction. To
assist in creating a world-class power plant with international-standard environmental and social programs, Nam Ngiep1 is
looking for Team Leader – Biodiversity Management (Lao National Only).
— Understand the Project relevant documents such as the CA (annex C), ADB Facility Agreement, Environment and
Social Management Plan, government related legislations, and national or international standard, guideline, or regulation
related to biodiversity and offset management as key references for the overall NNP1 Biodiversity Management Program
particularly in NNP1 Watershed and selected offset site
— Contribute to the preparation and implementation of Biodiversity Management for NNP1 Watershed Management Plan
(WMP), Biodiversity Offset Management Plan (BOMP), and Biodiversity Surveys within NNP1 Watershed and selected offset.
— Act as the focal point for biodiversity management within NNP1PC
— Act as the focal point for the collaboration with GOL on Biodiversity Management Programs to ensure all program
objectives are met in timely and cost efficient manner
— Leading the NNP1 EMO Biodiversity Management Unit
— Prepare regular and ad-hoc reporting according to the requirements of the position as well as request from management
— Supports and contribute to another area of responsibility of Environment Management Office (EMO) related to Biodiversity
Management such as Watershed Management, Environmental Compliance, Environmental Monitoring, and Biomass
— Proven extensive experience with planning, legislation, mitigation and policy in relation to protected areas and ecosystem
management and conservation - prefer in Lao PDR.
— Experience with hydropower projects and initiatives linking biodiversity loss and facility operations.
— Familiarity with strategic themes, directions, condition and network of protected areas, in Lao PDR.
— In-depth knowledge of Governance issues in biodiversity, natural resources management and conservation in Lao PDR
— Strong presentation, organizational and communication skills,
— Strong negotiations and financial management skills.
— Experience with high-level report writing - technical, planning and management.
— High-level experience working with consultants, preparing work plans and overseeing outputs and quality.
— High level of experience working on contracts development and management.
— Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders, including customers,
— Graduated in environmental sciences, environment management, forestry, ecology or related discipline to biodiversity
management. Master’s Degree or equivalent experience as a minimum
— At least 5 years of experiences related to environmental planning and management, biodiversity conservation, landscape
management, or protected area management
